Khaleeji style {countries of the Arabian Gulf}

... we'll be wearing beautiful clothes, adorn ourselves with fine gold jewelries, have chai and gahwa (tea and coffee), burn bakhoor and, as the fragrant fumes ascend, will dance to the hypnotyzing rythms of khaleeji music (switch on a player in the very bottom , enjoy sweets and mouthwatering khaleeji dishes, trace over whimsical henna patterns on our hands and feet...Well, in a word, you are welcome to my virtual Hafla! (=a social get-together, a party, in Arabic) [all photography via instagram & tumblr]

BAKHOORI won't describe what is it, as Wikipedia has done it very well already: - [In most Arab countries, bakhoor is the name given to scented bricks. These scented chips/bricks are burned in incense burners to perfume the home and clothing with a rich thick smoke. This is used specifically on special occasions like weddings or on Fridays or generally just to perfume the house.]

↕ ... how gorgeous are all khaleeji outfits - ABAYAS, BISHT and DARA'A?! Forever my style!

  1. I do want to come to your party, but I fear I have "nothing to wear." I would like to be
    be wearing one of the gorgeous skirts and sit beside the beautiful women. I know one place
    I better not sit and that is on one of the white chairs. I'd spill, for sure. LOL
    I can smell the aroma from the scented bricks. How delightful. How comfortable to be
    surrounded by pleasurable scents. Do we get a henna pattern on our hands,too.

    I noticed the spikey heels on the shoes in the picture with the black and gold dress. And
    the food and exquisite tableware. I wonder what is in the drinks in the pretty cups.
    All very enchanting, my dear. You certainly know how to throw a party. LOL

  2. Oh, Manzi my dear, you are mostly welcome!! :) I can imagine we could have a divine party together, and no white chairs! )) Yeah, those heels are crazy, poor feet! I can never wear such height. Yet, we, girls, have times when we just have to stand high! ;))
    Thank you for the wonderful comment! I feel as if we had really spent a joyful hafla together! :)
